If you are in anywhere but one of the major-producing cities, there are a bunch of stuff you can do.

Obviously, you cannot just go take classes in your hometown or at your university, because ultimately, it might not benefit you. In getting headshots before you move, its nice because you are prepared and you planned ahead. But, a headshot in LA or New York taken by a photographer from LA or New York is totally different from a photographer from anywhere else. Its just night and day.

Step 3

You are going to get jobs with one and you will not be looked at with another. And your headshot just like your demo reel, those are your business cards. Someone looks at that, before they even want to see you in person. So, if those don't blow their hair back, which they won't unless they are really nice, which they got to be done in either LA or New York, Miami, There is a certain style they are looking for. That people in Indiana and Ohio and Oklahoma just don't know about and just because they are not experienced. So, I would say, save your money on that. Save your money, definitely work as much as you can because all these production cities are expensive towns. So, that is one thing you have to do - is save your money.
