How To Choose A Monologue
Step-by-step Instructions
Here is what you need to do...
Step 1
A monologue you need for a couple different things. You go to a random audition, they will give you sides to work on - lines for the character that you should know if you can. But they always want to see a little bit extra, When you go to an audition, they want to see your range of emotion. So, if all the sides, all the lines for that character that you are auditioning for are happy go lucky things, maybe they want a dramatic monologue from you. So, you need to have that prepared. There is dramatic monologues, there is comedic monologues. You just need to have a variety, so you can show your range of emotion.
Step 2
Its also needed, for my case right now, to put on my demo reel. Because some of the work I have done, that is going to go on my demo reel - that is basically my calling card - for other producers, agents, managers. All the stuff I have currently worked on, are more the happy go lucky stuff. They are more fun, more action-packed. They don't really get to that sensitive side of almost breaking down and crying, being emotionally stressed, which is why you have to be prepared to show all that stuff on your three minute demo reel.
Step 3
So, you have a lot of different things to show them in a short amount of time and it has to be hot, has to be fresh. It can't be boring stuff.
