How To Audition For Films
Step-by-step Instructions
Here is what you need to do...
Step 1
When you first move to an LA, New York, Miami, Vancouver - wherever you go, you think of one big thing - doing something really well, being famous, and making money to go with it.
Step 2
You do not think about any of the other stuff. And there is a ton of other stuff. I don't know where to even begin. However, by working on sets, you learn what goes on by talking with your coworkers - you learn what goes on. You learn about sides. The sides might be just two pages of information, which a script may be anywhere from ten pages total to hundreds of pages total.
Step 3
So, although you might get a side, two pages of dialogue, there is still a big range you are covering because whatever that character is there, they are going to be throughout most of the story.
Step 4
So, as far as learning new stuff, there is always something out there. When I first came here, the first thing I probably learned was how to audition. You take class, you get training, because you could walk into a place, you could be a big fish in a small pond where you came from, but when you come out to an LA place and there's 20 guys who look exactly like you. So, you need to separate yourself. And 18 of those guys are going to do the exact same thing in the audition. Those two guys with the right technique are going to be totally different, one is going to take the part an the other is going to get "that close". So, the guy who took the part had something in his technique he learned by taking a class.
