Buying Guide: How to Choose a Portable Landmine

Step-by-step Instructions

Here is what you need to do...
Step 1

Whether you're at home or at the gym, performing some T-bar rows or close-grip bent over rows is always great for your back. That being said, it's really uncommon for gyms to actually carry the equipment necessary for these exercises. Luckily, Amazon's got you covered with a couple different portable landmines that you can either take to the gym or leave at home.

Step 2

Choosing the right landmine just comes down to the amount of money you want to spend.

Step 3

Some inexpensive portable models can be attached to bars or other solid objects in the gym. They cost a fraction of the heavy type that sit on the floor.

Step 4

Check out descriptions of each landmine below. Both will work well and last a long time. But, obviously the more expensive landmine will last longer and operate better. Choose whichever fits your budget and know that either one will satisfy.

Step 5

First is Barbell4Me's Heavy Duty Landmine Total Body Crossfit Workout Core Trainer T Bar Row. I know the name is a mouthful, but the item itself is actually extremely easy to deal with. It's a heavy-duty piece of metal that looks like it could be first base at your local baseball field. It comes with an attached tube that fits almost any barbell. And it has extra holes in the sides that are built for perfect stability. If you're planning to have a home gym, then this is absolutely a wonderful choice, costing only $69.99. For those who plan to bring it to the gym, Barbell4Me has even put a small handle on the plate in order to make carrying it around an easy task. Overall, it's a good product. And the price makes it a steal.

Step 6

Secondly, we've got the Ultimately Fit Commercial Landmine. This landmine comes with almost all of the same benefits of the other landmine. However it costs over $250.00. The cost simply goes to confirm the quality. You'll find this landmine will last well past your lifetime. And the heaviness of the thing requires no extra securing holes. When it comes to making a landmine portable, this is the ultimate purchase.

Funny or interesting story about this topic...

In my old gym, there were no landmines. There was only a corner of the gym where people shoved the edge of a barbell and did their sets of rows. Too many times I've seen the bar slip from that corner and disrupt a perfectly good set, but one time the bar did much more than that. My friend was working with 4 plates on the end of the barbell, and he was 5 or 6 good reps into the set, lifting with a passion. All of a sudden, the bar slipped from the corner and went straight up into his balls. Needless to say, the set and the rest of the sets of his workout were over for that day. That just goes to show that getting the right equipment is worth it.

When did you first do this & how did you get started?

I saw my first portable landmine in Indiana, when I went to visit my best friend at his college. Someone brought the landmine in and, ironically enough, I was doing sets of rows in the corner of the room. I watched as the fella laid his landmine down and banged out a few sets. All I could feel was jealousy. I knew I had to have one, so I bought one soon after. I don't always take it with me to the gym, but I do take it with me on back day. I'm more than happy that I decided to finally make that purchase.
