How To Be a Guido

Step-by-step Instructions

Here is what you need to do...
Step 1

Start working out! Go to the gym as much as you possibly can. After your muscles start developing properly, you'll be well on your way to becoming a real walking guido.

Step 2

Cut your hair into a style that requires it to be spiked up. Whether you do the mohawk, faux hawk, or even attempt a blowout; AXE CHARGED spiked up look putty will keep your hair spiky and swaggy for the entire day.

Step 3

After you've gotten your muscles and haircut, it's time to start tanning. Grab a bottle of Banana Boat tanning oil and make your way to a tanning salon. Any powered tanning bed will work..but the darker you get the better! Keep a monthly or even a yearly membership to your favorite salon, and make sure you stay stocked up on Banana Boat tanning oil to help your tan be darker and smoother.

Step 4

Now that you've got the looks down, begin clothing yourself with clothes. Every Guido knows that the number 1 place to shop for clothes is Buckle. They carry popular brands like Obey and Affliction. You'll want to stock your wardrobe with some Affliction T-shirts and pants. These clothing options will have people seeing you as a Guido from miles away.

Step 5

After fully looking the part, you have to start talking like a Guido. Guidos will throw phrases like "bro", "yo", "grenade", "fist pump", and "smash" around. You have to let loose with the Guido phrases and be as confident as possible. I mean, you're a full fledged Guido now! Flaunt it!

Funny or interesting story about this topic...

Here's a few facts: UW- Eau Claire (my college) is found in northern Wisconsin..Guidos are not. I was the only Gym-loving, hair-spiking, fake-tanning, Italian around in the whole school. Naturally, everybody started calling me Jersey Shore. However, by the end of the year, if anybody needed advice on how to pull off a messy hairstyle or where to go tanning...I was the go-to guy.

When did you first do this & how did you get started?

I first started being a Guido when I was a sophomore in high school. I got my first haircut and started spiking it up. After that, I began to hit the gym on a regular basis. It wasn't long before I found a tanning salon and bing-bam-boom; I was a full fledged Guido.
