Differentiation: Mechanics

This variation of a Push-Up is unique. Here is how: it is a body weight movement that targets and develops your entire chest. This type of pushup is good for beginners, because the movement is simpler than other pushup variations.


Starting Position

To get into starting position, do this...

1) Locate an area of the gym with ample floor space to perform the exercise.

2) Position your body off the floor on your hands

3) ...and on your toes.

4) Spread your hands 36 inches wide apart

5) ...and fully extend your arms.

Main Mechanics

Once in starting position, do this...

1) This is the starting position.

2) Inhale as you lower your body down toward the floor...

3) ...until your chest almost touches.

4) Exhale as you push your body back up to the starting position.

5) Squeeze your chest as you push.

6) Pause for a count of one second at the top of the movement.

7) Then, lower your body down again.
