How to Run Lacrosse Shooting Drills
Step-by-step Instructions
Here is what you need to do...
Step 1
Shooting drills for lacrosse practice can be broken down into game like scenarios: Shooting on the run (off a dodge), Shooting in open space (not on the run), and quick sticks.
Step 2
Shooting on the run is a difficult process when it comes to accuracy and speed. However, if practiced often and done well, this shot is one of the hardest to save for a goalie.
Step 3
Start with a line of attack on each side of the goal about 5 years below goal line extended (GLE).
Step 4
Place two lines of middies at the top of the restraining box. One line facing each attack line below GLE.
Step 5
Start the balls down with the attack.
Step 6
Have the first middie in each line run towards the attack line diagonal from them with their stick up ready to catch and shoot.
Step 7
The attack passes the ball to the middie cutting to them.
Step 8
Once the middie catches and shoots the ball have them rotate to the other middie line.
Step 9
Once all the balls are gone, gather them up and place them with the middies.
Step 10
Attack will not run to the middie diagonal from them to catch and shoot.
Step 11
See "How to Shoot on the run" for more detailed instruction.
