How to Put Weight Lifting Straps on

Step-by-step Instructions

Here is what you need to do...
Step 1

You take the end of one strap and put it through the loop from the right side.

Step 2

You take the end of the other strap and put it through the loop from the left side.

Step 3

You hold your hands in a supine position (palms facing upward).

Step 4

Slide the lifting strap over each wrist so that the remaining portion of the strap (the part that you wrap around things) is facing INWARD. If you can touch the ends of each strap together, so far, so good.

Step 5

To use the straps, you place your hands on the portion of the barbell/dumbell/pullup-bar that they would normally rest on, and begin twisting the strap FORWARD and under your palm. *this will take some practice at first*

Step 6

Once you twist the straps to desired tightness, you are ready to begin!

Special Attention

Difficulties people often experience or parts that need special attention to do it right.

This will take some time to get used to, but after 1 or 2 exercises you should have it down. By the way, the special saying is, "If the ends don't touch, you won't lift much!"

Funny or interesting story about this topic...

Whenever I train somebody on back day, I've noticed a recurring theme; too much time spent putting on the lifting straps! So one day I came up with a special saying to tell my clients, and I've never had the problem again!

When did you first do this & how did you get started?

I first started doing this my freshman year of college, during a training session with my roommate.
