How to Gain Weight for Football

Step-by-step Instructions

Here is what you need to do...
Step 1

Well the first things first. It's a very easy concept to understand but to gain weight you have to consume more calories then you burn. It is much easier said than done and many ways to do put on weight. You should also be working out regularly. In most cases your coach will have workouts and training routines for you to do. Weight isn't put on in the gym, it all starts in the kitchen. Don't get me wrong, lifting is crucial to putting on weight, but its when, and what you eat that makes the difference.

Step 2

There are so many new diets and fads out there. From both experience and knowledge, if you follow these instructions there is no reason why you can't put on weight. Let me first start by emphasizing a very common misconception. People tend to think that to gain weight you should eat a lot of junk food. This isn't true unless you want to put on fat, which coaches usually prefer muscle.

Step 3

So you may be asking yourself what foods to eat and how much to eat. Stick to whole foods and you will put on weight. Stay away from processed foods because they are high in fats and sugars. Eat plenty or protein, you should consume nearly 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight. You should also be eating plenty or fruit and vegetables. Here is the biggest part of putting on weight, the secret to success is carbohydrates. Many people cut them down but trust me, if you wanna put on healthy lean muscle you need to eat a lot of carbs. Carbs come in many forms and foods. I would recommend eating carb sources such as fruit, pasta, potatoes, grains, and oats.

Step 4

After reading this you are probably thinking how can these foods taste good? Well the truth is healthy food doesn't taste the best but if you want to see results your going to have to eat a lot of it so get used it. The rule of thumb that I always go by is if your full force your self to eat just a little bit more to put on weight. You should be consuming at least 3 large meals a day with snacks.

Step 5

Another way to help you gain weight is by supplementing a protein shake into your diet. In doing so you will increase your caloric intake and get high grade protein into your system. I would take this protein shake after you workout to see the best benefits and get the best bang for your buck.

Step 6

Another tip for someone who is extremely serious about putting on weight is to eat before bed. It doesn't have to be a large portion but it should be a high protein source. I would recommend something like a peanut butter sandwich or something of that nature.

Special Attention

Difficulties people often experience or parts that need special attention to do it right.

If you stick to these ideas you will do just fine. Stay away from junk food guys, it sounds hard but really try to limit yourself if you want lean gains.
