Posing Nude For First Time

Note: This article discusses some explicit techniques used by some experienced male models who pose nude. This is knowledge you would gain after becoming experienced posing in front of the camera and is completely optional.

Being comfortable is crucial

The key to making any modeling photo shoot successful is for the male model to feel at ease and very comfortable. This is especially crucial for photo shoots in which a male model is nude. A photo shoot will not produce quality photos if the male model's facial expressions do not express sensuality or strength. Photos in which the male model appears scared or uncomfortable just do not look right! Everyone's time is wasted if you look scared in photos. Models should remember that seeing a nude person is not new to the male model photographer, who has seen many models naked.

Clear the Set!

There should be a minimum number of people present at a nude photo session. Only the male model and modeling photographer need be present. Sometimes photographers wish for an assistant to be present. However, you can ask for the assistant to leave the room after the studio is set up if you are feeling nervous. The location chosen should be private, preventing others from walking in or by.

Nervousness Doesn't Last

A model who is posing nude for the first time should expect to be nervous during the beginning of his photo shoot and then to get comfortable as the session progresses.

Get Undressed Early

Don't delay getting naked. The more you think about getting naked, the more you will get nervous. To speed up the process of becoming comfortable, the male model should disrobe as soon as he arrives for the photo shoot. The longer length of time in which the male model is naked, the better chance he will become at ease. Take Reality TV for example: people surrounded by video cameras on Survivor or in a house tend to forget the cameras are present after a few days. After an hour or two of walking around naked, a model loses his initial inhibitions or nervousness. You just don't care after a while!

Take a Break if Nervous

If a male model begins to feel ill at ease or too nervous during the shoot, he can take a break from posing. If this does not help, the male model should not be afraid to end the photo shoot and return another day. The male model photographer should not object because he needs the male model to be comfortable to make the photo shoot worthwhile. The male model might be more at ease during a second try. In any case, a male model should not feel embarrassed to state how he feels or ask questions.

Don't Be Rushed - Allow Ample Time

Nude photo shoots are often lengthy. It is not unusual for these types of photo shoots to last six to seven hours. The longer the photo shoot, the more chance of producing quality photos that show comfortable, pleasant expressions on the male model's face.

A male model should not have any commitments scheduled the same day of the shoot. Do not schedule anything to occur after the photo shoot. This way, the photo shoot is not rushed and you can be free of concerns about arriving on time elsewhere.

Bringing Friends is Distracting

It is difficult to flex your lats, legs, abs, push your pecs out, make sure your penis looks good and give a good facial expression. Models don't need any more distractions. Your buddies probably are not accustom to seeing you naked - and not posed sensually. They joke around and distract you. Plus, if you feel the need to bring a chaperone, don't do the photo shoot.

Viewing Instant Digital Images To See How Your Body Looks on Film

If a male model photographer shoots using digital camera, you can walk to the camera to view some of the initial images. If film is used, the photographer can capture instant Polaroids during the photo shoot. Polaroids do not show exactly what the resulting photos will look like. Polaroids only show a similarity. Once you view a few photos, stop. Walking back and forth between the spot where the model is posing and the camera takes you out of position from the camera. You become a pain in the ass if you want to see every digital image created during the shoot. Just look at a few images and then wait until the shoot is completed.
