Double Kettlebell Push Press


Differentiation: Mechanics

This variation of a Standing Shoulder Press is unique. Here is how: you press two kettlebells | and slightly push with your legs when you press. Using your legs increases the amount of power available to lift the Kettlebells. This increase of power adds to the overall strength of your shoulder muscles.


Starting Position

To get into starting position, do this...

1) Obtain two kettlebells.

2) Locate an area of the gym with ample floor space to perform the exercise.

3) While holding a kettlebell in each hand, walk over the the spot where you will perform the exercise and stand.

4) Stand straight upright, looking straight ahead

5) Place your feet about shoulder-width apart.

6) Lift the kettlebells up to your shoulders, so that your palms are facing forward.

Main Mechanics

Once in starting position, do this...

1) This is the starting position.

2) Maintaining a straight upper body, bend your knees

3) ...and squat a few inches.

4) Then, push upward with your leg muscles and lift the kettlebells up and over your head...

5) ...simultaneously twist your wrists, until your palms are facing forward.

6) ...until your arms are fully extended.

7) Lockout your elbows and hold for a count of one second.

8) Then, inhale while you gradually lower the kettlebells to your shoulders.
